The tractor shed at Little Peachley has been demolished and garages for
conversions built in it's place.
The centre Barn was used for storing and threshing corn also a hammer
mill producing flour operated here. It also provided housing for animals.
In the end of Barn near road, an old Horizontal engine possibly a Hornsby
unit with huge flywheels, was utilized to drive a chaff cutter and beet
slicer for cattle feed.
End of barn furthest from road was used as stables also a bull was kept
here, which had to be lead with a pole connected to a ring in bulls nose
to the pool near road to be watered.
Above the stables was a hay loft, access was through a door on side.
A newer building was situated on end of barn, this was used for keeping
chickens for eggs and cockerels for the Christmas market.
The red dutch barn on the right was used for storing hay and straw. It
was demolished and cleared to provide gardens for the conversions.
This original barn is a listed building, during building renovation the
barn was completely demolished by a freak gale, and had to be rebuilt
using New Oak timbers and Elm cladding. A massive crane was used to lift
the huge timbers into place.
